The Tehran Stock Exchange index is off and running again after two brief corrections in January. It’s been a wild and woolly ride for the last year and a half. After stagnating for years under 100,000, the index finally moved above 100,000 in June 2018, then topped 200,000 in April 2019 and 300,000 just five months later in September 2019 and 400,000 just four months later on January 18, 2020. As of February 3, it stood at 428,216. The index has risen 3.3-fold in just a year and a half and is far ahead of inflation in that time.
