The Trump Administration has announced that Iranian nationals are no longer eligible for US E1 and E2 visas, which were created to allow foreigners to enter the US for international trade purposes or to invest in the United States. Iran’s eligibility for those visas was created by the 1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights between Iran and the United States. The Trump Administration terminated the treaty October 3, 2018. But it only got around to announcing the end of Iranian eligibility for the visas January 22. It appeared no one had noticed. It said Iranians currently in the US on E1 or E2 vias could stay until those visas expired.
