Last month, Iran announced that it was negotiating with Vietnam’s national oil company, PetroVietnam, to take on the third phase of Darkhovin development with a $1.2 billion investment.
Iran said no contract had yet been signed, but Iranian officials anticipated a contract would be sighed within two months.
PetroVietnam, however, said recently that it was not currently negotiating anything with Iran. It said that last year Iran proposed several projects to PetroVietnam, including the third phase at Darkhovin. PetroVietnam said it has not yet even responded to Iran’s proposal, the Vietnamese News Agency reported, quoting Nguyen Quoc Thap, deputy general director of PetroVietnam.
