Two more senior Pasdar officers were killed in Syria last week and another was injured and hospitalized as a result of combat with rebels opposed to the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
The three men were all colonels. Many news reports listed the dead men as generals. That is because the Pasdaran posthumously raises dead officers by one rank if they are killed in action.
At least four Pasdar generals and the two colonels have died in the fighting in Syria so far this year.
The two colonels were identified by the Pasdaran as Farshad Hasunizadeh and Hamid Mokhtarband. It said they were both killed last Tuesday in southern Syria. Most of the military action, however, has been taking place this month in northern Syria. Both men were from Khuzestan province.
