Majlis Deputy Javad Karimi-Qoddusi (photo) told a gathering Sunday night in Mashhad that Iran has “hundreds” of battalions of combat troops fighting in Syria. The next morning, military officers were loudly denying any combat troops were in Syria. Battalions vary in size by country and assignment. In Iran, Pasdar battalions are believed to have about 300 men so that 100 battalions would involved 30,000 combat troops.
