Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossain Amir-Abdollahian has reassured the public that the Iranian diplomat abducted in Yemen in July is in good health. Since he said it is not known who abducted Nur-Ahmad Nikbakht, it was unclear how Abdollahian could know what the man’s health condition was. The Foreign Ministry has a habit of issuing such baseless assurances in an apparent effort to convince the public that it is working hard and pursuing the cases of Iranians in trouble abroad.
