It appears that some officials think the more florid the rhetoric the easier the road to military victory.
But many think the rhetoric is intended solely for domestic audiences, where fear of an attack is thought to be growing.
Almost daily, some official pounds the table and condemns Iran’s enemies, usually left unnamed, to eternal damnation.
Last week, the Defense Ministry issued a statement saying, “Today, the Army has made the dreams [of enemies] about aggression and invading this sacred land seem like a nightmare. The Army will reciprocate any adventurism by unwise enemies with a devastating and unimaginable response.”
It said the men of the armed forces are all “ready to dedicate their lives to establishing security and safeguarding the limits and borders of Islamic Iran.”
Earlier, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi warned the unnamed enemies about Iran’s tough response to any aggression or even threat, stressing that the country would respond with full force to any attack.
“Iran is not a nation to sit still and just observe threats from fragile materialist powers that are being eaten by worms from inside,” Khamenehi told students at the military college.
“Anyone whoarbors any thought of invading the Islamic Republic of Iran—or even if the thought only crosses their minds—should be prepared to receive strong blows and the iron fists of the Armed Forces, the Pasdaran and the Basij force, backed by all of the Iranian people,” he said.
“Iran will respond with full force to any aggression or even threats in a way that it will demolish the aggressors from within,” he said.
