It’s been two months since Iran’s national soccer team was eliminated from the World Cup, and Iran’s soccer federation has just remained mum about the fate of coach Carlos Queiroz (photo). But Queiroz turned up in Qatar in early February to sign a contract to coach its national soccer team which was the first team eliminated from the World Cup finals.
The scuttlebutt going the rounds now in Tehran is that the team will hire an Iranian coach for a change. Meanwhile, in the FIFA computer rankings, Iran fell from 20th in the world before the Cup finals to 24th and Japan moved up to 20th to replace Iran as the best team in Asia.
