Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi has joined the international outcry criticizing President Trump for taking the children of illegal immigrants away from their mothers. Khamenehi called it a “crime.” He said, “How can they commit such a crime of separating children from their mothers for the excuse of implementing some policy? This shows how evil they really are.” Sixteen years ago Khamenehi called George W. Bush uncivilized for using that very word and putting Iran in his “Axis of Evil.” Khamenehi’s criticism of separating children from their mothers might have some resonance if the Islamic Republic did not periodically sweep up Afghan children from the streets in Iran and dump them on the Afghan border without telling their parents.
