This is interesting because Iran never damned the Tunisian regime as autocratic until it was overthrown. Before that, Iran actually had better relations with Tunisia than with most Arab governments. Just last month, Tunisia joined Iran and 15 other countries in refusing to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for a Chinese dissident. Tunisia certainly wasn’t doing what the US government wanted then. And a recent WikiLeaks cable shows the US ambassador describing gross corruption and human rights violations in Tunisia.
