The Pasdaran flatly denied last week that it is working on a missile with a range of 12,000 kilometers—10,000 being sufficient to reach Washington. It said it doesn’t need a missile with a range greater than 2,000 kilometers, which brings Israel within range. Over the years, several generals have periodically said Iran was working on a missile able to reach around the world—only to backtrack later when more sophisticated officials said that could prompt a US attack. What Iran is actually doing remains unknown.
