The manager of the Imam Khomeini refinery says gasoline refined to euro-4 standards is now being sold in Arak and Karaj as well as in Tehran. The Rohani Administration has moved eagerly to stop the production of highly polluting ersatz gasoline at petrochemical plants and to upgrade the standards of regular gasoline to the euro-4 quality standards, which is presented in Iran as the best standard. Actually, the euro-4 standard was succeeded in the EU countries by the euro-5 standard as long ago as 2008, but euro-5 goes unmentioned in the Islamic Republic.
