by interfering with the investigation of the bombing of the Jewish communality center in Buenos Aires in 1994 while Menem was president. The charges are not political. Menem and current President Christina Fernandez are both members of the Peronist Party. Juan Jose Galeano, the man who headed the investigation of the bombing for 10 years before being fired, was also ordered to trial for obstructing justice. Agence France Presse said Menem, who was born of Syrian parents, hid evidence that would show the involvement of a Syrian-Argentine businessman in the bombing, which Argentina says was organized by Iran and Hezbollah.
