It also says the latest bombings in Baghdad are designed to make Iran’s talks with the Big Six countries fail next month.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast interpreted foreign developments of recent days in a remarkably Iran-centered way.
Bombings occur in Iraq almost every day and have for almost a decade. But Mehman-Parast saw the bombings of mid-April as targeting the talks scheduled for more than a month away.
He said, “It is very clear which countries want the talks to succeed and which see success as contrary to their interests. It is also clear which countries try to establish security in the region and which promote insecurity.”
It was Iran that insisted on holding the talks in Baghdad while others viewed the locale as a poor choice because of the decade of bombings and shootings in the city.
On France, Mehman-Parast said, “The election results show the failure of the policies of President Sarkozy, at least in issues related to the Middle East and our country.”
But foreign policy was not an issue in the French presidential elections.
