The Fars news agency has carried 36 stories in just six days about anti-Trump protests in the United States. Fars, which is operated by the Pasdaran, carried four stories Wednesday, seven Thursday, seven Friday, three Saturday, eight Sunday and seven more Monday, often calling the protests “riots.” Fars carried no other news from the United States apart from the story last Wednesday on Trump winning the election. The regime delights in news from the West about disorders and crimes. It also carries much news about natural disasters—floods, hurricanes and the like—in an effort to convince the Iranian public that life in the West is hard and dangerous.
