Hungary is an EU member, but with an extreme rightwing government that is often at odds with the EU leadership. Hungary further stuck its finger in the EU’s eye in February when its foreign minister visited Tehran and signed a trade deal, the only EU member with such an arrangement with the Islamic Republic. However, the deal only covers agricultural trade, which is exempt from sanctions.
