Jahan News reports that Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino (photo), who visited Tehran last month, was “forced” to wear a headscarf during the visit. Jahan News said an official boarded her jet after it landed carrying a selection of headscarves and implying that her official meetings would be canceled if she didn’t wear a scarf. The Italian Foreign Ministry dismissed the report as “fanciful” and reporters who accompanied her said no one came on the plane with headscarves. The daily Corriere della Sera also pointed out that Bonino wore a headscarf on a visit to Afghanistan in 1997.
