For the first time, Iran Air will fly all of Iran’s pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj. For many years, Saudi Arabia has carried half the pilgrims and Iran Air the rest. But the Saudis canceled that arrangement a few months ago, presumably out of political pique. The hajj, from August 9 to 14 this year, will see 86,550 Iranians flown to and from Medina and Jeddah, the largest number in decades.
