the Islamic Republic had a major problem with gasoline being smuggled out of the country. With subsidies ended, that problem is gone. Now the problem is gasoline being smuggled into the country. Amir-Ahmad Geravand, a border security official, said 4.5 million liters of smuggled fuel has been seized inside Iran in just the last two months.
