Smart parking meters have come to Iran—or at least one district in Tehran. As a pilot project, the meters were installed in District Two (which stretches from Azadi Square northeast to Saadat Abad). The system works through the smart phone app Tehran-e Man (My Tehran) used by the municipality for minor payments. Nationally, four of the country’s major toll roads now have electronic toll collection, like E-ZPass in the United States, which is being extended to 10 more highways.
