But Iran also says it has changed its way of doing business so the sanctions have no impact. IATA last month said it had to abide by US financial sanctions and would therefore stop sending Iran money for tickets sold by other airlines for people to fly on Iran Air. Farhad Parvaresh, managing director of Iran Air, said, “We changed our method of ticket selling” so as to foil sanctions. However, he didn’t say what change Iran Air had made. The point of the old system was that every ticket counter for every airline in IATA (which is most airlines) was a ticket counter for Iran Air. How that global system could be replaced, Parvaresh failed to explain.
