have now reportedly returned their envoys, and a Majlis deputy says that’s because they need Iran.
“The western ambassadors returned to Iran with embarrassment and they should take a lesson for their future,” Deputy Fatemeh Alia, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee told the Fars news agency Sunday.
She stressed Iran’s important and influential role on the scene of international relations and in the Middle East, saying, “They [the European ambassadors] returned to Iran with much shame since they need our country.”
She said nothing about the issue of safety, which was the spark for the removal of several ambassadors and their staffs.
Alia ran for re-election to the Majlis this month and made the run-offs. She has been one of the most outspoken—and imaginative—members of the Majlis.
Another member of the National Security Committee said the return of the European ambassadors shows Iran’s influential role and power in the world. “The return of the western envoys to Tehran indicates the clout and influence of a powerful Iran,” Javad Jahangir-zadeh told Fars.
”It seems that we should welcome the return of the Western ambassadors, which was a deserving punch to the mouth of the United States and the Zionist regime. We should describe it as a wise move.”
