The deputy governor general of Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province has announced that a drone made an emergency landing there, rejecting earlier reports that the aircraft crashed.
Jafar Mardani told the Fars news agency the drone was being used by the meteorological organization as part of a cloud seeding project when it was forced to use its parachute and make an emergency landing due to “adverse weather conditions in the Kouhrang area and strong winds” there.
The drone seen here is quite small and would not be able to carry much in the way of cloud seeding chemicals. The drone is a Shahed-191, which is a reduced-size (60 percent) copy of the American RQ-170 that crash-landed in Iran December 5, 2011, exactly 10 years to the day before this drone came down.
