Derakhshani is a composer of classical Persian melodies who was born into a family of musicians in Semnan. The troupe touring North America will be comprised of Derakhshani on tar and Goudarzi as vocalist plus Shaho Andalibi on ney, Pouria Akhavass on gheychak, and Abhiman Kaushal on tabla.
They will be performing works by Derakhshani. Derakhshani is now based in Cologne, Germany, and considers it his mission to introduce Persian music to Western audiences.
