In a dramatic—some would say overly-dramatic—attack on illegal satellite dishes, the Army unit in Shiraz last Monday used an armored vehicle to crush 800 satellite dishes and receivers the police had seized. An announcement said this was to encourage the public to voluntarily destroy their satellite dishes and obey the law. The only television programs that can be watched legally in Iran are those from the Iranian state broadcasting service.
