Economy Minister Farhad Dezhpasand (photo) announced that he canceled the annual trip to Washington by an Iranian delegation to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank October 14-20. He complained that the US had refused to issue visas to his deputy and other members of the delegation, though he had received a visa. He called that action “unprecedented.” However, the US has often denied visas to some members of the Iranian delegation to the IMF/WB meetings and just weeks earlier had denied visas to 40 people in the delegation accompanying President Rohani to the UN.
