Northern Tehran was set abuzz July 10 when a loud explosion was heard in Mellat Park, popular with residents of many wealthy neighborhoods. Police said they found no damage or anyone hurt and concluded it was what in the US is called a flash-bang a kind of tiny explosive used by police for crowd control as it makes lots of noise and a stunning burst of light without doing much else.
