Four years after Morocco severed diplomatic relations with Iran, the two countries have agreed to resume diplomatic ties. This is believed to be a product of the Rohani Administration’s efforts to normalize its dealings with much of the world. Morocco kicked out the Iranian embassy in 2009 over what it complained were inappropriate remarks about Morocco’s support for Sunni-ruled Bahrain. Morocco also charged that Iran was promoting Shiism in the country.
