The military of the Islamic Republic has been boasting in recent weeks of fielding many newly designed weapons built in Iran. One it has hyped is the JAS 313 drone aircraft, which it says can be used for both bombing and reconnaissance.
But when it released video of the drone taking off from Iran’s new drone aircraft carrier, the drone turned out to be the size of a hobby drone and unlikely to be able to carry a bomb bigger than a hand grenade.
Many Iranians mocked the new weapon on social media. One person said, “You could find a better and cheaper one on Amazon.” Another quipped that it might be useful for attacking anthills.
