Googoosh–now 71 years old, but not looking it—gave a Now Ruz concert (above) in Dubai March 17 to an adoring crowd heavily comprised of visitors from Iran. “When our lives pass away in dismal loneliness, where will we find these beautiful moments again,” she crooned. The audience went wild. They listened intently to the new songs she sang. And they sang along with every syllable they knew from the old songs she made memorable before the revolution silenced her in 1979. Many in the audience were younger Iranians born after the revolution who know her music because their parents played it so often. Googoosh’s latest concert tour will continue April 17 in San Diego, May 14 in Toronto and August 27 in Atlanta.
