The Council of Guardians has vetoed the bill to lower the workweek for state employees from 44 hours to 40 hours and make the weekend Friday and Saturday, rather than Thursday and Friday as preferred by many conservatives. The Guardians did not say why they vetoed the bill. The newly elected Majlis will now have to take up the issue.
