In a first, Iran has announced that two female referees from the women’s soccer league will be assigned to the team of officials overseeing the next match between Persepolis and Esteghlal, the two giant Tehran teams whose games are among the biggest of each year. The two women, Mahsa Qorbani and Mahnaz Zokaee, will not be running around the field, however. They have both been assigned to the booth up in the stands where video replays are monitored.
