The Iran Daily reported Monday that’s Iran’s national soccer team in the World Cup finals will wear jerseys with a cheetah logo to draw attention to the endangered species. Cheetahs once roamed over much of Asia and Africa, but in Asia today Iran is the only place they are found and there are fewer than a hundred left even there. However, a week earlier, news reports said FIFA, the governing body of international soccer, had rejected the jersey proposal, saying FIFA rules allow jerseys to show only the logo of the national football federation and of the jersey’s manufacturer.
