President Trump continues to rile the Islamic Republic by insisting it is anxious to talk to the United States, something Iran has denied for ages. On January 6, Trump told reporters, “They are not doing well. They want to talk.” Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, insists the exact opposite is the truth. “Iran has not sent any signal or message for negotiations with the USÖ. It is the Americans, not the Islamic Republic, who send messages and announce through their couriers that they are ready for negotiations with Iran.”
