More than a year ago, Iran and Iraq established a committee to demarcate the land border. The start of work on the ground was announced—but nothing more has been heard of this effort. The demarcation of the land border has been required since the 1980-88 destroyed markers along most of the border. But that war ended 23 years ago. The sea border is just a matter of reaching an agreement and drawing a line on a map.
