Omid Djalili (photo), the Iranian-born, London-based stand-up comic, gave his first performance in Farsi February 13 in London. Djalili has become one of the best-known comics in Britain. When he first started out decades ago and no one knew who he was, he would come on stage speaking barely understandable broken English with a Persian accent, then shift to English with a German accent, an Italian accent, a French accent, a Scottish burr and Cockney accent, before settling into whatever was the accent of the city where he was performing.
