Western world is steeped in evil

He portrayed the Western world as steeped in evil and intent on nothing but subjugating the rest of the world and leaving it mired in poverty.

“[We have witnessed] how those who were claiming the peoples’ freedom and happiness, human rights, and the protection of the international security have trampled all these values and resorted to the ugliest measures against freedom, against the people’s happiness and rights, and against international security.”

During the war, he said, “They justified chemical attacks on cities and defenseless people, and supported the most brutal invasion by an infamous dictator,” he said. Actually, no Western country justified Saddam Hussein’s chemcial attacks on Iran, though there was much criticism that the criticism of those attacks was not stronger.

Ahmadi-nejad said, “The main—and weak points—of the global rulers became quite obvious during the Sacred Defence period [the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-88]. It became clear that all their slogans are falsehoods, all their claims are a fraud, and their aim is the rule over the world.”

Then he spun this thought out to its extreme. “Their version of events does not officially accept the independence and glory of even one single nation. Their slogans and claims are being sacrificed easily for political and colonialist ideas, and for economic interests. They did not even officially accept the most essential laws that were adopted by them regarding war captives.” This was an astounding claim by the leader of a country repeatedly criticized by the International Committee of the Red Cross for mistreating Iraqi prisoners during the war.

“It became clear that their aim and intent is to rule over the world and to encroach without limit upon the wealth of nations. Their aim is destroying nations, weakening nations and preventing progress, development and awareness.”

Ahmadi-nejad said, “The system that rules the world leads the very nature and existence of other nations toward desolation. It does not endure even the smallest glory of nations, and creates plans and plots against the scientific and technological progress of others.

“[The system ruling the world] practices deceptions in order to create sectarian and religious disputes. They are chanting false slogans of freedom and loyalty to freedom of thought and speech.

“They do not allow questions about an historical event [referring to the Holocaust] and they put those researchers and scientists in prison. They pressure and threaten nations so that they do not have any questions regarding that historical event. They call for freedom—however, at the same time, they practice the ugliest offence against sacred human values and prophets, who are the greatest gifts of God to mankind.”
