An officer of the air marshals said Iran’s program has been very successful, stating that since the air marshal program was created in the 1980s to foil skyjackings, there has been only a single attempted skyjacking, which was foiled in mid-air last November. Skyjackings have declined generally from their heyday a few decades ago.
