Esfahanis turned out in the thousands February 15 when water was released upstream to restore the flow, albeit briefly, to the Zayandeh River as it flows through Esfahan.
For almost a decade, the flow through the city has been blocked for most of the year as the water is diverted tot5h farms and industries that are upstream from Esfahan. As the photo shows, the water does not fill the entire width of the river.
