This month is the 25th anniversary of Ayatollah Khomeini’s agreement to accept a ceasefire and end the Iran-Iraq war after eight years. And not coincidentally, Iran and Iraq last Thursday exchanged the remains of yet more soldiers they have found on their soil in recent months. Iraq handed over the remains of 107 Iranians while Iran handed over the remains of 46 Iraqis. The exchange took place at the Shalamcheh border crossing post, which was at one time at the center of the fighting.
