It’s been 20 years now that news outlets have periodically reported that in a wargame played out by the US military in 2002, the US officers playing Iran defeated the US officers playing the United States. What is often not mentioned is that the Iran team won primarily by making a surprise Pearl Harbor-like attack on the US forces in the Persian Gulf.
