The Rohani Administration has submitted to the Majlis a long-awaited bill intended to protect women from violence by criminalizing any behavior that causes “physical or mental harm” to women. The bill is a response to the Me-Too movement that started in the US and has gone global as women demand more protection. Tara Sepehri-Far, a researcher with Human Rights Watch in New York, said the bill is a step forward but still fails to tackle child marriage and marital rape or to define domestic violence strongly
