The two artists plan to bring Iranian calligraphy and traditional music together in a two-day exhibition, taking place in Vancouver, British Columbia, November 26 and 27.
“Music and visual arts are two important branches of art, and calligraphy is closely connected to music,” the US-based Jamshidi told the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA).
The event will display over 60 calligraphic works, inspired by ancient and contemporary Iranian poets including Mowlavi, Hafez, Khayyam and Nima Youshij.
Jamshidi announced that similar events would be held at Vancouver’s Chan Center and Hafez Literature Club.
Shirchi is currently an instructor at the Iranian Association of Calligraphers and has published over 10 collections of his works.
He has held numerous exhibitions in different countries including France, Belgium and Luxembourg. His 2008 calligraphy exhibition featuring Jamshidi’s live musical performance attracted thousands of art enthusiasts in the US.
