Vancouver police have filed drug and firearms charges against six people in a gang led by an Iranian-Canadian.
The gang leader, Saeed Sajadi, 29, was caught earlier this month by US immigration just two days after a warrant was issued in Canada for his arrest.
Sajjadi flew from Britain to Atlanta. In Atlanta, US immigration identified him as wanted by Canada. He was denied entry into the United States and put on the next flight to Toronto where police arrested him on landing.
Vancouver police said he has been charged along with five others in a multi-ethnic gang. From their names, the others charged are two Chinese, two Vietnamese and a Latina.
Vancouver has a very eclectic gang movement centered on drugs. Iranians have become very involved in that gang movement. The Vancouver Iranian community, while mostly distant from crime, is more riddled by criminal activity than any other community in North America.
