The Rohani Administration has agreed to provide funds for the national soccer squad to visit the United States next March or April for some friendly soccer matches in preparation for next summer’s World Cup finals. The Ahmadi-nejad Administration had denied the team any money for foreign travel. Coach Carlos Queiroz has told the government it shouldn’t expect anything but embarrassment at the Cup finals if the team doesn’t have several friendly games in the intervening months. The report on the US trip didn’t indicate if any other foreign trips have been approved.
