Unconventional sentence

An orthopedic surgeon in Tehran has been convicted of charging patients far more than legally permitted.  A judge sentenced him to pay a fine, to conduct 50 operations for free and to make visits to 100 underprivileged people without charge.  Such sentences have become more common as the Judiciary has asked judges to find ways to avoid packing the country’s prisons.
