The incident happened in Plymouth, a small city in Britain’s southwest.
The 20-year-old man, who works as an interpreter, was walking along a main street at around 11 a.m. March 18 when two white males came from behind and walked on either side of him.
Investigators said one of the men spat on the Iranian before calling him a racially offensive name. The second man then pushed the Iranian into the window of a department store before shoving him to the pavement.
Both men then told the interpreter to go back to his own country, stated they were from England and again called him a racially offensive name.
A police spokesman said: “The victim told officers there were many members of the public around him at the time of the incident, but no-one intervened. We’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.”
The officer said both offenders were seen getting on a city bus shortly afterward.
