MARGINAL FALL – The rate of inflation fell last month, but only marginally, and still remains stubbornly around 25 percent annually. As compared with the same month last year, the inflation rate as of the end of Bahman on February 19 was 25.0 percent, down from 26.3 percent the previous month. Measured as a 12-month average, the rate was 37.0 percent at the end of Bahman, compared to 38.6 percent the previous month. The rate compared to same month in the previous year dropped rapidly earlier in the Persian year, but has only dropped marginally in three of the last four months—and actually rose in that fourth month.
