There are still two Iranian engineers missing in Syria and their fate is unknown. There was a spate of kidnappings of dozens of Iranians in Syria. Those kidnappings have ended and all but two of the victims have been freed. The two still missing were among the first group kidnaped in December 2011—a group of seven engineers working on an electrical plant. Iran’s ambassador to Syria, Mohammad-Reza Sheibani, said five of the seven were freed by the Faruq Brigade. But he said that group disintegrated after its commander was killed and nothing further is known about the two engineers.
