A beefy man who dubs himself the Iranian Hulk is scheduled to enter the ring in April against a Briton dubbed the World’s Scariest Man. The pair met in Dubai February 27 for a publicity event—and it didn’t go well for the Iranian.
To begin with, Briton Martyn Ford towered over Sajad Gharibi, displaying a good six-inch height advantage.
But the face-off in Dubai got heated very quickly.
They got uncomfortably close together and exchanged words, which then led to Ford losing his patience, shoving Gharibi who stumbled backward a dozen feet across the room before tumbling to the floor.
Gharibi faced-off against Ford again, then suddenly bent over and grabbed Ford around the waist in an attempt to take him to the ground. Ford turned, causing Gharibi to lose his balance, and Ford then easily pushed Gharibi to the floor.
The two monstrous fighting machines are set to go head-to-head inside a boxing ring on April 30 in London.
Unsurprisingly, before their first face-to-face encounter in Dubai, a level of mudslinging on social media has occurred, which included an obscure training video posted by the Iranian Hulk of him punching concrete walls and ripping apart melons.
After posting footage of his training online via Instagram, his unusual training techniques for boxing have been questioned by less than impressed fans. Ford himself described his opponent’s training technique as “embarrassing” and assured fans the bout will be a “real fight” and not just some stunt.
A few days later, after Ford saw a rising tide of nasty social media postings assailing the Iranian, Ford posted, “I do not want to see any hate towards him. We have both stepped into a pressure cooker. It is not an environment either of us are used to. But please show some compassion for his feelings, no matter what you feel…. We are all human. We are better than this.”
